The accidental bestselling novelist | Nibbies are open for entries | Australians propose news tax for social media giants | 2 x writing competitions
My dear wordsmiths,
My usual plea to consider upgrading to paid and to those who already have - you are very much appreciated.
In today’s edition you can expect:
Why I’m up a mountain in Spain
My dad, the astronomer
A very scary plane landing
Managing abuse online ( including learnings from Nicola Bulley as an editor in Lancashire)
Opportunities in journalism and writing (scroll down)
Ola (or should it be Feliz Navidad) from southern Spain where I am staying at my dad’s bougainvillea- clad hideaway in the rural hinterlands, far away from any form of resort and along a very bumpy unsealed road unfashionably far up a mountain. It seems an unlikely choice for a man on his own although he’s only here a max half of every year (thanks to Brexit). My dad did not choose the region of Andalucia for the sun and sangria although he does have a pool - mainly to attract the grandchildren to come and stay in the summer months. It’s more of an ice bath right now.
Apologies, no audio edition this week as I don’t have the setup here in Spain. Back next week.
